It was reported today that Senatory Ted Kennedy suffered a seizure in his home and was rushed to the hospital. Senator Kennedy does not have epilepsy, and doctors have ruled out a stroke. While strokes are a cause of a seizure in older individuals not suffering from epilepsy, there are many other factors, too, such as infections, electrolyte imbalances, or certain medications. Senator Kennedy has a history of cardiovascular disease, but doctors are not certain as to what contributed to his seizure. They are running more tests in order to determine the cause.
