Epilepsy is characterized by recurrent, disorganized, abnormal electrical firing in brain cells, which can disrupt normal functioning of the brain. This disruption can cause seizures that can present in a variety of ways. For instance, one person may have seizures that result in one area of their body twitching, whereas another individual may have seizures that present as violent jerking. The ways in which epilepsy presents can vary widely, but can also help your doctor determine which treatment is the best to control your seizures.
